BUILD 206 Block Party: Celebrating the Summer with the Community

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

The community came out to celebrate, connect, and BUILD at the BUILD 206 Block Party on Saturday, July 31st. BUILD was proud to partner with the Columbia City Beatwalk to put on this event that brought together community members, Black-owned vendors, & local performers for a day of fun, music, and celebration.

BUILD 206 is committed to a focus on civic engagement, leadership development, mentoring, and community partnerships throughout the greater Seattle area. What better way to partner with the community than to bring the party to them. The party featured local artists, Supreme La Rock (IG @supremelarock), G. Prez (IG: @gprez206), Black Stax (IG: @black_stax), and DJ Uncle Nyice Guy (IG: @mrnyiceguy1). Various vendors like Girl Trek (IG: @girltrek) and Through It All Fitness (IG: @throughitallfitness) were on hand to showcase their goods & skills to the community. We also had the Double-Dutch Divas on hand to give us a throwback lesson on the ropes. And the media company designed for our community, Converge Media, also joined us to document the event. To say the least, it was EPIC!

Not only did we have a great time, but we also got a chance to spread the word about BUILD 206's newest initiative, BUILD the Vote! With the primaries behind us and election season ramping up, BUILD is committed to connecting the community to voter education, candidate information, and providing increased access to voter registration. Learn more at www.build206.com/vote.

The Block Party also allowed the community to provide BUILD with their feedback via in-person interviews and surveys. The voice of the community is valuable to us as it helps us remain connected to what the community needs and wants. If you didn't get a chance to share your feedback click HERE to complete our short survey.

We look forward to offering more BUILD 206 community events, activities, and workshops. We hope to have even more performers, vendors, and community members join us for these events.
